Trego County Emergency Management said the fire near WaKeeney is under control.

Evacuation is not necessary at this time.

Residents on north Fourth Street in WaKeeney are being urged to turn on sprinklers and prepare to evacuate their homes if the fire threatens the city.

According to scanner reports, firefighters are on the scene of a grass fire in the area U.S. Highway 283 between milemarkers 150 and 179.

Reports indicated the fire was affecting the area of the power station in the area.&nbsp;

Multiple units have been called to respond to the scene.
