
GOVE COUNTY—One person was injured in a 3-vehicle crash just after 3:30p.m. Monday in Gove County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2021 Freightliner semi was eastbound on Interstate 70 near the Park exit. The driver lost control and began to jackknife into a separate accident scene.
The semi struck a parked KHP patrol unit providing traffic control for the separate accident scene.
The semi continued sliding, struck road debris and a 2024 Toyota Highlander driven by Ronald L Busch, 72, Lakewood, Colorado, which was traveling around the road debris.
The semi continued eastbound and jackknifed until it was stopped by another jackknifed tractor trailer.
The Toyota continued past the jackknifed tractor trailer after being hit and came to rest on its wheels, facing north just east of the jackknifed tractor trailer. The KHP patrol unit came to rest in the south ditch facing east.
EMS transported a passenger in the Toyota Eric T. Brown, 61, Lakewood, Colorado to the hospital in Quinter. There were no other injuries reported. The occupants of the Toyota were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
