
NEW ORLEANS –Fort Hays State indoor track and field continues to rank among the top teams in the country in the latest USTFCCCA National Rating Index, released on Tuesday (Feb. 1). The Tiger men stay among the Top 10 this week at No. 8, while the women are among the Top 20 at No. 16.
The men's team earned 93.67 points from 14 marks. Eleven of those performances rank among the top 25 nationally. The Tigers still have four performances among the Top 5 nationally. The pole vault crew, led by coach Randy Stanley, have three individuals ranked in the top 11, including national-leader Ryan Stanley, Jacob Clark in sixth and Mark Faber in 11th. Sprinter Philip Landrum ranks third nationally in the 60m dash and is fourth in the 200m dash. Nolan Churchman ranks third in the heptathlon.
The women's team has nine marks ranked in the top 30 nationally, including six that are among the top 10 in Division II. Lyric Holman ranks in the top 10 in three events, including fifth in the 60m dash, 10th in the 200m dash and ninth in the 4x400m relay alongside Mattie Rossi, Taylor Savolt and Chloe Stanley. Rossi is also ranked in the top five in two other events, sitting fifth in the pentathlon and fifth in the 60m hurdles. Savolt is 10th nationally in the triple jump.
Fort Hays State is the third-highest ranked MIAA team on the men's side behind No. 4 Pittsburg State and No. 6 Central Missouri. The women are the fourth-highest ranked conference team behind No. 2 Pittsburg State, No. 12 Lincoln, and No. 14 Northwest Missouri State.
The Tigers are scheduled to continue their indoor season this weekend at the Herm Wilson Invitational, hosted by Wichita State University.
