Hays received .2 inches of rain as of 5:30 this morning at the Eagle Media Center, 2300 Hall.
It was still raining at the time of the measurement.
This is the first rainfall Hays has received this month.
Hays receives, on average, 2.24 inches of rain in September and 19.84 inches of rain year to date by the end of September.
Hays has received about 16.9 inches of rain year to date.
Ellis County is not listed on the U.S. Drought Monitor map as reported on Thursday.
Hays has a 40% chance of showers this afternoon. The forecast is for partly cloudy skies and highs in the 70s during the weekend.
A slight chance of rain returns Monday and Monday night with a high of 79.
Highs in the mid- to upper 80s are forecast for next week, according to the National Weather Service.
