TREGO COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 5p.m. Wednesday in Trego County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2023 Mack semi driven by John William Yocum, 72, Amarillo, Texas, was eastbound on Interstate 70 just east of WaKeeney.
The vehicle lost a set of rear wheels from its trailer. The wheels traveled across the median and struck the driver's door of a westbound 2000 Freightliner semi driven by Marquardt, Mark John Marquardt, 66, Madison, South Dakota. The impact caused the Freightliner to crash into the north ditch.
EMS transported Marquardt to the Trego County Hospital. Yocum was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
