Ralph G. Jacobs, 92, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La Crosse, Kansas.
Ralph was born April 18, 1929, in La Crosse, Kansas, the son of Casper and Mary Elizabeth (Schmidt) Jacobs. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. Ralph attended grade school at Lone Star School, District 64, Bison, Kansas, before attending Bison Rural High School, Bison, Kansas. He farmed with his father until 1970, after which he worked maintaining tracks for the Santa Fe Railroad. He also owned and operated Jacobs Lawn Care, La Crosse, Kansas, before his retirement from his lawn care business at the age of 91.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus Council 2970, both of La Crosse, Kansas.
On October 15, 1983, he married Barbara A. Barnett at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas. She preceded him in death November 13, 2018.
Survivors include: three step daughters, Jacque Blair (Roger), Scott City, Kansas, Mary Ann Willems (Neil), Tabernash, Colorado, and Linda Riedel (Don), La Crosse, Kansas; seven step grandchildren, Amber Russell (Brian), Chad Tylicki (Mandi), Paul Willems, Stephanie Blair, Shannon Bennett (Casey), Aaron Riedel (Sarah), and Jordon Riedel; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy Jacobs, La Crosse, Kansas, and Jerry Jacobs, Hays, Kansas; and one sister, Mary Lou Warren, Wichita, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers, Celestine “Celly” Jacobs, Eugene Jacobs, Virgil Jacobs, Daniel Jacobs, and William “Bill” Jacobs; and five sisters, Leona Leiker, Albina Birney, Elenora Holzmeister, Louise Besperat, and Viola Dreher.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 19, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Church visitation will be Wednesday, October 20, 2021, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:20 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Knights of Columbus Council 2970, La Crosse, Kansas, or the American Cancer Society.
