NORTON — The Norton Police Department is advising residents to be wary of a COVID-related scam involving purported churches and ministers.
"These scams involve being contacted by individuals claiming to be ministers that want to help provide relief from the effects of COVID-19. They have been asking our citizens to purchase gift cards for these ministers and in-turn, they will provide financial relief," the department said via social media. "BE AWARE of this! As always, we remind you to never provide anyone your personal information! If you have been contacted by these scammers, contact the Norton Police Department at 785-877-5010."
