UPDATE: Per-day virus case average rises again in Ellis Co.

The Ellis County Health Department on Friday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days rose from 9 on Wednesday to 11 on Friday.

On Oct. 2, the Hays City Commission voted to extend the ordinance requiring face coverings until the seven-day new case average was five or fewer for 14 straight days.

There were 31 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the county since Wednesday. There are currently 123 active cases, including four active hospitalizations, and 1,306 recovered cases.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests fell slightly to 19.9 percent.

Since reporting began, there have been 1,447 cases of coronavirus reported in Ellis County, including 18 deaths.
