KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State baseball senior Cade Flaherty has been named this week's MIAA Pitcher of the Week, announced Tuesday (Feb. 25) by the league office.

Flaherty tossed a complete game five-hitter Sunday afternoon (Feb. 23), helping the Tigers sweep Arkansas-Fort Smith in the first conference series of the season. The senior matched his career high with 10 strikeouts in the game while allowing Lion hitters to post a batting average of .172. Flaherty allowed more than one runner in an inning only once.

This is the second time Flaherty has earned the conference's weekly honor in his career, also doing so last February (2/19/24). He is the second Tiger to earn a weekly recognition from the league office this season after Elliott Herrmann was named the first MIAA Hitter of the Week of 2025. Fort Hays State is the only school in the conference to earn both a Hitter of the Week and Pitcher of the Week recognition so far this season.

The Tigers will return to Larks Park for its next nine games beginning this weekend (Feb. 28-March 2) when FHSU hosts Missouri Western. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
