KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State sophomore Katie Wagner has been named the latest MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week presented by Shift Group, announced Monday by the league office. This the second MIAA weekly honor for Wagner in her career.

The Maize, Kan. native helped the Tigers open conference play with a bang last weekend, averaging 20.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in a pair of blowout victories. She knocked down more than 63 percent (14-of-22) from the floor and more than 92 percent (12-of-13) from the charity stripe for the week. Wagner collected her league-high fifth double-double in Thursday's 88-52 win over Northeastern State with 23 points and 10 rebounds before contributing 17 points and four rebounds in an 84-42 win against Rogers State on Saturday.

A second-team All-MIAA selection last season, Wagner is off to another strong season, averaging 12.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per night through nine games. Her five double-doubles are fifth-most in Division II, while she ranks 17th in the country with 80 rebounds on the year.

Wagner and her Tiger teammates will head back out on the road for the first time in four weeks when they take on Missouri Western on Saturday (Dec. 10, 1:30 p.m.) in St. Joseph, Mo.
