Isabell Hainke, 98, of Russell, Kansas, died on Monday, August 10, 2020, at her home in Russell, Kansas.

Isabell was born on October 13, 1921, in Durham, England to Richard and Isabell Danby. She grew up in Durham and graduated high school. After high school she joined the Royal Army Air Force in England during World War II. While in the military, she met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Raymond G. Hainke on January 26, 1946, in Durham, England. From this union Isabell and Raymond were blessed with four children; Gloria, Rita, Virginia and Gary. After the war, they raised their family and made their home in Russell, Kansas, where she worked at Abco as a spot welder. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell. She enjoyed gardening, casino trips, cooking, keeping her home clean and tidy and spending time with her family. Most of all she enjoyed seeing and playing with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Surviving family include her daughters Gloria Deem and husband Ronald from Issaquah, Washington, Rita Hainke of Kansas City, Missouri and Virginia Arend of Topeka, Kansas and son Gary Hanke and wife Shareen of Wichita, Kansas; grandkids Brandon Hainke, James and Casey Arend, Dalton and Jenna Hainke; and 7 great grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond on April 25, 2001 and several brothers and sisters.

A graveside service to celebrate Isabell’s life will be held at a later date. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
