Roberta Louise Petracek

Roberta Louise Petracek passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at Good Samaritan in Oberlin, Kansas, at the age of 85. She was born in a small house south of Sterling, OK on January 26, 1936, to Melvin Bert Ballard and Eva Marie (Nolan) Ballard.

On February 28, 1959, she married Elmer Petracek in Oberlin, KS. The couple and daughter Phillis made their home on the family farm northwest of Jennings. Roberta was not just a farm wife, she was a true farmer, working with her tractor side by side with Elmer. Later, she worked for years as a cook at Decatur Health in Oberlin. She was member of ZCBJ Lodge in Jennings for years, serving as officers on both the local and state level.

Survivors include sisters Alice Fisher of Fort Cobb, OK; Vada Jensen of Hales Corners, WI; Joy Ballard of Pilot Point, TX; brother Sonny (Mary) Ballard of Sterling, OK; many nieces and nephews; and close family friends Don (Susi) Bolt and family and Doug Cressler of Jennings, KS. She was proceeded in death by her husband Elmer, daughter Phillis Petracek, a sister-in-law and her husband Ellen & Donald Shaw.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, at Pauls Funeral Home Oberlin, KS with Rev Gordon Pettibone officiating. Burial in Big Timber Cemetery located in rural Jennings.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm and 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
