SPONSORED: First Care Clinic expands women's health services

First Care Clinic Inc., is excited to announce the expansion of their Women’s Health and Family Planning services with the addition of in-house gynecological procedures, including cervical biopsies and the insertion/removal of birth control devices.

In 2023, First Care Clinic was named a National Quality Leader by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for their efforts in cancer screening and prevention. Recently, medical providers Alexis Ibarra, APRN and Natasha Werth, APRN completed specialized training through the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) which allows them to perform colposcopies. These procedures identify abnormal tissue, or other gynecological problems, and can aid in the detection of cervical cancer.

Thanks to a generous contribution from the Leo J. and Albina Dreiling Charitable Trust, First Care Clinic was able to purchase equipment and instruments, as well as provide the training necessary to perform in-house colposcopies.

First Care Clinic CEO Eric Flax stated, “We are proud to partner with the Leo J. and Albina Dreiling Charitable Trust in this endeavor. They instantly recognized, by expanding women’s health services, that together we could positively impact the health and well-being of our First Care Clinic patients, and our community. To limit barriers to timely cervical cancer screenings, we were compelled to provide our patients with this option. Without the Leo J. and Albina Dreiling Charitable Trust, we would not have been able to get this up and running as quickly as we did. We are extremely grateful!”

“We strongly believe in cancer prevention. Women should have regular screenings for cervical cancer. With the addition of these procedures, if a patient’s pap smear is abnormal, we can perform a biopsy of the cervical tissue in the clinic and refer them to a gynecologist for further evaluation if needed.” explained Medical Director Dr. Christine Fisher.

Fisher continued by saying, “Our Women’s Health services will now also be able to offer additional safe and reliable birth control options to meet the needs of our patients’ reproductive health.”

The medical providers at First Care Clinic have a long history of offering Family Planning services to their patients. Alexis Ibarra and Natasha Werth, along with medical provider Devin Reed, APRN also recently received specialized training for the insertion and removal of birth control devices.

These added gynecological procedures are available at First Care Clinic on 22nd Street in Hays, while General Women’s Health services will continue to be provided by all medical providers at both Family Medicine locations.

A Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday, August 8th at 9:00 a.m. to celebrate this expansion. The event will be held at the 1923 E. 22nd Street clinic in Hays. The public is invited.

First Care Clinic welcomes new patients and accepts all major insurances. A sliding fee scale discount is available to those who qualify.
