🥎 FHSU has three named to CSC Academic All-District Team

Three student-athletes from the FHSU Softball team were named to the College Sports Communicators All-District Team for 2023, announced on Tuesday (May 16). Earning the distinction this year are Loren BeggsReese Curry and Regan Curry. College Sports Communicators (CSC) is the new name for College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), changed prior to the start of the 2022-23 academic year. This award honors a combination of academic and athletic accomplishments of the individuals selected.

Beggs completed her fourth season on the field for FHSU in 2023, starting all 55 games. She was the team leader in extra-base hits with 23, producing 15 doubles, 5 triples, and 3 home runs. She ranked second on the team in RBIs with 29. She started all 55 contests for the Tigers, primarily at third base. Beggs already has her bachelor's degree in Psychology and is working on her master's in Psychology as well. The Olathe, Kansas native holds a 4.0 GPA as a graduate student and had a 3.78 GPA overall as an undergraduate.

Reese Curry completed her second season on the field for FHSU in 2023, playing in 42 games and making 12 starts. She primarily saw time in left field and as a designated player in the Tiger lineup. She finished the year with a .291 batting average to go with 7 RBIs and 18 runs scored. A native of Oskaloosa, Kansas, she holds a perfect 4.0 GPA as a Biology major with an emphasis in Health Professions.

Regan Curry also completed her second season on the field for FHSU in 2023, starting 54 games at shortstop. She finished the year with a .247 batting average with 6 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run. She drove in 18 for the season and scored 27 runs. She was one of the top defensive players in the MIAA, posting the second-best fielding percentage (.964) among players with at least 100 assists on the season. She led the Tigers with 122 defensive assists for the season. The Oskaloosa, Kansas native mirrors her twin sister as a Biology major with an emphasis in Health Promotions holding a perfect 4.0 GPA.

As All-District selections, the trio will now be considered for Academic All-America honors voted on by Sports Information/Athletic Communication professionals nationwide in NCAA Division II.
