It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Myron Cole,
Palco, Kansas. John passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022. He was born
May 26, 1939, in Sharon Springs, Kansas and was a resident of Graham
County since 1969. John was a cowboy from the beginning to the end, had a
love for the land, and was happiest in the saddle, with the weathered
and callused hands of a hard-working farmer and rancher. John started
with his own company Circle C Agri Systems out of Palco. Then he worked
as a manager at Developmental Services of Hays, and later working for 36
years as a manager for the Salina Journal until his retirement at 78
years of age.
John passed away at Rooks County Hospital on comfort care
following a hard battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his
daughter, Christina Cole; his parents, Myron J. Cole and Anna Faye Cole;
his brothers: Hugh Cole, Jim Todd, Orville Cole and George Oscar. John
is survived by his wife, Barbara Cole, of Palco; his daughter, Lori
Childs, of Kernersville, North Carolina; his son, John Cole, Jr., of
Palco, Kansas; and seven grandchildren. John will be fondly remembered
as a special man, always there to help others. As stated by a friend,
“John Cole was a man’s man, one who made you stand taller, talk deeper
and work harder, trying to be the kind of man John was.”
