
Leroy C. Braun, age 91, of Victoria, Kansas, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society-Hays. He was born on September 23, 1934, on the family farm northwest of Victoria, Kansas to Clarence P. and Pauline (Hammerschmidt) Braun. Leroy married JoAnn Katherine (Schmidt) on June 5, 1961, at Hays, Kansas.
Leroy was a farmer and worker on the farm until he retired in 2022. He grew up on the family farm and was a 1952 graduate of Victoria High School. Leroy was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Victoria V.F.W. Post # 1751, and a member and an usher of The Basilica of Saint Fidelis. He was a former board member of the Victoria Credit Union. Leroy enjoyed playing pinochle, square dancing in his younger years, and treasured all his grandkids.
Leroy is survived by his wife, JoAnn Braun; his children, LeeAnn Schmidtberger and husband, Leroy, Victoria, KS; Terry Braun and wife, Deb, Victoria, KS; Tim Braun and wife, Kris, Wylie, TX; his siblings, Wayne Braun and wife, Edith, Hays, KS; Allen Braun and wife, Patti, Claremore, OK; Lorita Berens and husband, Ron, Great Bend, KS; his brother-in-law, Tony Leiker, Wichita, KS; his grandchildren, Meagan Wellbrock (Scott); Chad Schmidtberger (Andrea); Colin Schmidtberger (Stephanie); Justin Braun; Eric Braun; Ashley Braun; Brandon Braun; Caitlin Braun; his great grandchildren, Dawson Schmidtberger; Hudson Schmidtberger; Liam Schmidtberger; and his step great grandchildren, Keira Wagstaff and Kamryn Bliss.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Pauline Braun; his brother, Clarence Braun Jr.; his sisters, Jeanette Leiker; Mary Jane Unrein; and his infant sister, Darlene Braun.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis with Celebrant, Father Curtis Carlson O.F.M. Cap., 900 Cathedral Ave., Victoria, Kansas.
Burial will be in Saint Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kanas with Military Honors by the Victoria, V.F.W. Post No. 1751.
A Vigil Service and Rosary with the Victoria V.F.W. and Victoria Daughters of Isabella joining will be at 6:00 P.M. Monday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary, Victoria, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary, Victoria, Kansas, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis.
