Carroll Kent Kenyon, 77, died Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born January 16, 1943 in Hill City, Kansas to Wilbur and Margaret (Flicker) Kenyon.
He grew up in
Bogue where his family farmed and raised milk cows. He attended Bogue
High School where he was a great basketball player and track star
(anyway, that is what he told his grandkids). He graduated in 1961 and
attended Fort Hays State the following Fall. He enjoyed the college
experience so much he was asked to leave after one year. However, he
remained close friends with many of his wild and crazy guys.
Carroll and Deanna Chipman were united in marriage, August 26,
1962. They moved to Salina and he attended Brown Mackie Business
College. In the summer of 1963, they returned to the farm to help his
dad. He became a school bus driver for several years. His bus kids told
him that is how they learned to speed! His passengers really enjoyed
Carroll, as he always had a joke for them. He also worked in the oil
fields and was the Bogue Branch Manager of the Penokee Co-Op for many
years.
He was one of those people who never met a stranger. Everywhere
Carroll went, he made new friends. One hour of visiting and they were
his friends for life. His love for his family, friends, and his furry
brothers: Harry, Hank and Augie, was definitely apparent to all who knew
him. He always said that Harry was more well known than he was!
He enjoyed snow skiing, and lake time with Errol and Cindy Conn.
Both the Conn and Kenyon kids thought they were siblings and they had
two sets of parents. After all, who else would take all eight children
on trips together? Travelling was a pastime he really loved. One of his
favorite destinations was Hawaii and of course, he and Deanna couldn’t
forget Jamaica where they met so many wonderful and lasting friends. But
giving him the most pleasure in life was just being on his farm with
his sons and grandchildren and the many friends who stopped by just to
visit.
