⚽ FHSU women pick up road win over Hillcats

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Fort Hays State women's soccer team prevailed on the road against Rogers State on Sunday by a score of 1-0. The Tigers now sit in a two-way tie for first place in the league with an overall record of 10-1-3, 6-0-1 in MIAA play, while Rogers State drops to 6-6-2, 3-4 in conference games.

Another defensive battle took place in the early portions of Sunday's match for the Tigers with both teams being held scoreless through the first half. Only six shots were kicked in the first half, 4-2 in favor of Fort Hays State. All four of FHSU's shots were on goal in the first period. The Tigers did also earn two corner kicks.

Fort Hays State had more offensive opportunities in the second period, shooting nine total shots in the second half. Allison Worley connected for the lone score of the game in the 57th minute off an assist from Kintzli Wagner.

The Tiger defended the box at a high level throughout the match, allowing just one shot on goal from the Hillcats that was saved by Isabel Robben.

Coach Tyson John and his team have played just four road games thus far in the season and are now 3-1 in those contests.

The Tigers will play again next weekend on the road against Missouri Southern State on Friday, October 20, in Joplin, Mo. at 6 p.m.
