STOCKTON – It took the TMP-Marian Monarchs (7-2, 3-1 MCL) a little bit to get going Saturday afternoon but once they found their rhythm they never let up as they cruised to a 75-39 win over Smith Center (0-8, 0-4 MCL) in a feather bracket game at Stockton High School.

Smith Center jumped out to a pair of four point leads in the first quarter and held a 13-11 lead late in the quarter before the Monarchs Jackson Schulte gave the Monarchs a 14-13 lead on a three-point play. TMP never trailed the rest of the way.
The Schulte three-point play sparked a 6-0 TMP run to end the first quarter as they built a 17-13 lead after one.
The Monarchs scored 12 straight to open the second quarter and outscored the Redmen 26-6 in the quarter.
Gavin Unrein scored 10 of his game and career-high 17 in the quarter.
TMP led at halftime 43-19.
The Monarchs outscored Smith Center 25-7 in the third quarter and with the continuous clock in the fourth TMP claimed the 75-39 victory.
Game highlights
Unrein led three Monarchs in double-figures with 17. Schulte added 16 and Dylan Werth finished with 11 points.
TMP will get Norton in the first-round of the MCL tournament Monday at 6 p.m. in Norton.
