Hays escaped Monday night's severe weather that hit the Salina area, and much of north central and eastern Kansas.

The official rainfall measured at the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town was just 0.02 inches, while the Eagle Media Center, 2300 Hall, had 0.20 inches of rain.

Even with recent rains, Hays is still well behind the average amount of moisture for the year-to-date.

The 159-year cumulative average by the end of June is 11.31 inches. As of June 9, Hays has received 8.14 inches of moisture for the year.

The three-day forecast is calling for a high of 103 degrees today with a chance of thunderstorms, then slightly cooler temperatures.
