Gerald 'Jerry' Olson

Gerald "Jerry" Olson was born on June 25, 1945, in Oberlin, Kansas. His parents were Gilbert Steen and Evelyn (Lorenson) Olson. He attended the Laing country school and later attended Decatur Community High School, graduating in 1963. He died on August 24, 2021, in Oberlin, Kansas, at the age of 76.

Following graduation, Gerald operated his family’s farm, located south of Herndon, Kansas, with his mother. He married Connie May, daughter of Elbert and Wilma (Wurm) May on January 20, 1979. He continued to farm until 2011 when he became ill and retired.

Gerald was known for his great sense of humor, smile, and boisterous laughter. He loved his farm and his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, and later, St. John’s Lutheran Church, of Oberlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Elwood May and John Andrews.

Survivors include, his wife Connie, sister Janice (Olson) and Bob Baer; brother-in-law, David May; sisters-in-law, Eunice Andrews and Jeanie May; daughters, Kelly (Olson) and Sam Stone, and Wendy (Olson) and Justin Scott; his son, Stean Olson; six grandchildren, Garrett, Gage, and Wyatt Scott, Georgia and Jack Olson, and Stella Stone; and much-loved nieces and nephews.
