Frank B. Pechanec

Frank B. Pechanec, age 98 years, of La Crosse, Kansas, passed away early on Monday morning, June 7, 2021, at the University of Kansas Health System – Hays Med Campus.  Frank was born on November 18, 1922, at Timken, Kansas, to Bohumil F. “B.F.” and Rose Mary (Vsetecka) Pechanec.  He grew up in the Timken area and attended Olney school district 65 until 8th grade and received his GED at age 67. Frank was united in marriage to Mary Ann Scheideman on June 11, 1957, at the Methodist Church, La Crosse Kansas. The couple farmed and ranched in Rush County and Lane County and in later years he worked in the insurance industry until his retirement at the age of 88.  Frank was a former member of the Kansas Livestock Association and served on the Timken Rural Fire Department for many years.  He loved gardening, woodworking, and had a passion for cattle and horses.  Most of all, he was a truly great husband, dad, and grandfather. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Pechanec of La Crosse, Kansas; one son, Kurt (and wife, Laura) Pechanec of Nekoma, Kansas; one daughter, Pam (and husband, Sam) Rose of Gainesville, Texas; two granddaughters:  Kristen Rose and Kassandra Pechanec; and one grandson, Garrett McCormick; one sister, Mary Urban, of La Crosse, Kansas; his children from a previous marriage:  daughter, Faye Evans, of Derby, Kansas, and her sons, Wade and Troy Evans; son, Douglas Pechanec, of Washington, and his children, son Roger Pechanec of Oregon, and his children, Cody and Kiley Pechanec.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Rosemary Dome and Helen Finger. 

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas, with Pastor Angie Vertz officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, with the family present from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
