NW Kansas man dead after car strikes concrete bridge pillar

RAWLINS COUNTY —A northwest Kansas man died in an accident just after 8:30p.m. Thursday in Rawlins County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1997 Ford passenger car driven by Mitchell C. Howard, 20, Atwood, was eastbound on Atwood Cemetery Road just west of Kansas 25 highway.

The car left the roadway to the right and struck a concrete bridge pillar. After impact the car spun 90 degrees counter clockwise and came to rest in the ditch facing north.

Howard was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to  Baalmann Mortuary. He was properly restrained, according to the KHP.
