Two teens hospitalized after car strikes semi's trailer on I-70

RUSSELL COUNTY—Two people were injured in an accident just after 11a.m. Tuesday in Russell County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Dodge Neon driven by Christopher T. Ford, 18, Hillsboro, Missouri was westbound on Interstate 70 just east of the Gorham exit in the passing lane when it caught up to another vehicle.

The driver moved the car back into the driving lane and struck the rear of the trailer on a 2023 Kenworth semi driven by Frederick A. Mendoza, 58, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

EMS transported  and a passenger Gage L. Ojile, 18, Arnold, Missouri, to the Russell Regional Hospital. Mendoza was not injured. All three were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
