Two inches of snow had fallen in Hays as of 8 this morning, according to the K-State Ag Research Center.
A winter weather advisory will be in effect until noon today.
Additional snowfall accumulation of up to an inch is possible, according to the National Weather Service.
Affected counties include Trego, Ellis, Ness, Rush, Pawnee and Stafford.
Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions.
The National Weather Service suggests you slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state are available by calling 5 1 1.
Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury, the National Weather Service said.
The high for today is forecast to be 30 with an overnight low of 16.
Expect a thaw on Tuesday with a high of 48 and partly cloudy with highs in the mid- to upper 30s on Wednesday and Thursday.
The melted snow will equal .15 inches of moisture. Year to date, Hays has received 26.43 inches of moisture compared with a yearly average of 24.03 inches.
