Virginia “Lois” Miller, age 97, went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family on March 11, 2026 at the Republic County Hospital following a brief illness.  She was a long-time resident of Phillipsburg, KS, but briefly lived at Credo Senior Living in Belleville, KS.

Lois was born on January 23, 1929, North of Phillipsburg, to parents Little Hobert and Geneva Winston (Ragsdale) Taylor.  She graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1948.

With kindness and caring Lois worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Phillips County Hospital for 22 years.  She became certified in reflexology and with loving hands provided pain relief and relaxation to family and friends, especially the grandchildren.  Lois was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg and volunteered her time to support the church.   She also volunteered at the Orphan Grain Train frequently.  She led by example in faith and commitment.

Lois was a strong, inspirational woman.  She lived simply and never let life’s roadblocks stop her.   She shared her love with nature with all who knew her, teaching her sons and grandchildren to step outside, have adventures and learn to have fun.  She also enjoyed sharing her love of reading, playing games, and cooking.  She was beautiful in spirit and self and will be greatly missed.

She was united in marriage to Edgar Herman Miller on May 16, 1949, in Kensington, Kansas. Edgar passed away on December 31, 1989.

She later married Gerald Bredemeier on January 23, 1992, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.  Gerald Bredemeier passed away on September 3, 2019.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Edgar, second husband Gerald, parents Little Hobert and Geneva Winston Taylor, and three brothers Frank, Dean, and Lee Taylor.

Survivors include sons Blaine Miller and wife Kathy of Belleville, Kansas; Barry Miller and wife Deb of Hays, Kansas; and Blake Miller and wife Linda of Beloit, Kansas; seven grandchildren: Joe, Logan and wife Kate, Brady and wife Morgan, Brogan and wife Alyssa, Jacob and wife Jenna, Travis and wife Audrey, and Taylor and fiancé Alex Koob, as well as18 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life for Lois Miller will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating.  Following the service, Lois will be laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery in Phillipsburg, Kansas.

Lois will lie in state on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
