
Jerry Vernon Yates passed away early morning, April 9, 2023, at his home
in Oakley, at the age of 55. He was born July 20, 1967, in Scott City,
KS, to Thomas Harvey Yates and Ruth Marie (Garrison) Yates. He married
Nancy Rebarchek in 1995. To this union three children were born.
Jerry leaves behind his wife, Nancy Yates, of Oakley; daughters, Casey
Rebarchek and life partner Miranda Sharp, of Hutchison and Amber (Yates)
and husband Raymond Fagan, of Oakley; son Stacy Yates, of Oakley;
grandsons, Carter, Kyson and Kobe Fagan; a sister Juely Scott, of
Dighton; brothers-in-law, Charles Rebarchek, Neil Rebarchek, of
Grinnell, Frank (Pam) Rebarchek, of Scott City, Cecil (Rebecca)
Rebarchek, of Healy and Alvin Rebarchek, of WaKeeney; sister-in-law
Norma Gayle Bland, of Gove and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and
great nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law Frank Milton
Rebarchek; mother-in-law Norma (Russell) Rebarchek; brother Joe Yates
and brothers-in-law, Rick Scott, Milton Eugene Rebarchek, Kenneth
Rebarchek and Robert Bland.
Jerry grew up in Scott City, was a lifetime member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and felt very blessed to know his
Heavenly Father.
Jerry drove semi for many years and then worked as a nurses aide and
medication aide. He then decided to go to work cementing oil wells.
Through the years he met a lot of good people he considered to be his
friend.
Jerry could not go anywhere without running into someone he knew or
someone he felt he needed to talk to, even total strangers. Jerry had a
lot of knowledge to share with people.
Jerry’s pride and joy was his wife, kids, grandkids, sister, nieces,
nephews, Little Rikki and all his other family; including all the
adopted kids he opened his heart to throughout the years.
A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023,
at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Memorials may be made to the Jerry Yates
