DODGE CITY – The Hays high boys track team won five individual events and a relay and edged Garden City by two points to win the Western Athletic Conference meet Thursday at Memorial Stadium.
The Indians finished with 99 team points, Garden City was second with 97 and Dodge City third with 89.
Kyreese Groen led the HHS boys with two first place finishes, winning the long jump and triple jump. Jordan Dale finished first in the high jump as did Harley Zimmerman in the pole vault and Nate Brooks in the javelin. The 4x100 meter relay team of Trent Summers, Keamonie Archie, Malik Bah and Chason VanDerWege also won a gold medal.
The Indian girls won one event and finished a distant second behind Great Bend. The Panthers finished with 139.67 points, Hays had 73 and Dodge City 61.33.
