Marceda “Ceda” Schmidt, 90, died Monday, February 6, 2023, at Southwind of Spearville.
She was born August 15, 1932, at Spearville, the daughter of Albert and Eva (Stegman) Konrade. She was a graduate of Offerle High School. On August 22, 1950, she married Gerald Schmidt at Offerle and in 1958 they moved to Syracuse, Kansas, and returned to Spearville in 2000. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and cross stitching.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and Daughters of Isabella, Spearville.
Survivors include: 6 children, Steven Schmidt and wife Lisa, Phillipsburg, Kansas, Roger Schmidt and wife Terri, San Antonio, Texas, Joyce Salter, Spearville, Marsha Maxey and husband Tim, Offerle, George Schmidt and wife Ronna, Tribune, Kansas and Michael Schmidt and wife Trish, Dodge City; 18 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; a brother, Reg Konrade and wife Jan, Abilene, Kansas; and a sister, Carolyn Gleason.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gerald, a daughter, Gloria Weckerly, a son, Thomas Schmidt, 2 brothers, Alvin and Gilbert Konrade and 2 sons-in-law, Paul Weckerly and Alan Salter.
Daughters of Isabella and Vigil service will be at 7:00 pm Thursday, February 9, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Church. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am Friday at the church with Fr. Ben Green and Fr. Jarett Konrade presiding. Inurnment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Spearville. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Thursday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
