Hays USD 489 board to consider track, tennis court resurfacing

The Hays USD 489 school board will discuss three capital improvement projects during its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Rockwell Administration Center.

Hays Middle School is set to receive track repairs at a cost of $168,000 plus crack repairs at cost of $51,786. The recommended bidder is Pro Track and Tennis.

The school board is set to approve a bid of $73,000 for structural spraying and striping of Hays High School track plus an additional $21,070 for crack repairs also from Pro Track and Tennis.

Pro Track and Tennis has also submitted a bid for $26,000 for $3,336 for resurfacing and maintenance to the Hays High School tennis court.

The board will also consider a bid of $30,720 submitted by BSN Sport for the purchase of new high jump and pole vault equipment.

Special education

Kyle Carlin, director of the special education cooperative, will give an update on the co-op.

This will include a presentation on bringing Russell USD 407 into the cooperative by the 2024-25 school year.  The cooperative currently includes Hays, Ellis, Victoria and La Crosse.

The school board will consider extension of building level administrative contracts.

The board is also set to discuss the superintendent's evaluation process, the board self-evaluation process and the new board member on-boarding process.
