
Mildred E. Holmdahl was born December 22, 1921 in Oberlin, KS to Willis
G. and Josie E. (McKay) Miller. She passed away at the age of 98 on
October 11, 2020 at Brookdale Grandon Farms, Mechanicsburg, PA.
Mildred grew up on the family farm in Rural Herndon and was a 1940
graduate of Decatur Community High School. She married Neil Nicodemus on
October 26, 1941, he passed away on June 15, 1944. Mildred married Eric
Eugene Holmdahl on October 6, 1946 in Oberlin, KS. She worked as a
switchboard operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. Mildred and
Eugene moved back to Oberlin in 1983 and she lived there until moving to
the Andover Assisted Living Center and then most recently she lived in
Mechanicsburg, PA to be closer to her daughter.
Mildred was a member of the Herndon Covenant Church, Covenant Women,
Ladies Trio, Rawlins Co. Home Extension, and the Hobby Club in Rawlins
Co. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, quilting, and crafts.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Neil in 1944
and Eugene in 1995; daughters, Janeil Jensen in 2012 and Janet
Vermillion in 2017; brother, Glen Miller and sisters, Lois Billings and
Edith Bremer.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean A. Hengst of
Mechanicsburg, PA; sons-in-law, Mike Jensen and Sherrill Vermillion;
brothers, Harold (Carol) Miller of Wenatchea, WA and Max Miller of
Apatche, AZ; 8 grandchildren: Sherri Ayers, Lori Ayers, Michael Ayers,
Tina (Kevin) Kerstetter, Daniel (Suzie) Hengst, Tracy (Josh) Hinkle,
Michelle Vermillion, and Brian (Veronica) Vermillion; 18 great
grandchildren: Jeremy Guzan, Shani Guzan, Shannon Ayers, Jordan Lawn,
Caiden Lawn, Megan Linenberger, Brianna Ayers, Leah Kerstetter, Caleb
Kerstetter, Alexis Hengst, Nicholas Hengst, Noah Hengst, Jackson Hinkle,
Colt Hinkle, Lakyn Anders, Braylon Daniels, Dannyka Touchet, and Eric
Vermillion and 7 great-great-grandchildren: Kayden, Miles, and Maci
Mayberry, Karson Turner, Mason and Kennedy Metcalfe, Sophia Jimenez, and
Liam and Holly Touchet.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial
