A local chain of Mexican restaurants will be reopening after they have paid their tax debt with the state of Kansas, according to the Kansas Department of Revenue.

On July 8, the Kansas Department of Revenue seized assets from San Juan Mexican Restaurant Inc. with locations in Russell, Scott, Thomas, Phillips, Rooks and Pawnee counties.

The taxes owed included $238,449.93 in sales tax, $16,490.74 in liquor drink tax and $46,090.62 in income tax.

A department of revenue spokesman said Wednesday, the restaurant chain had paid its tax obligations and would be allowed to reopen.

El As De Oros in Plainville said it would reopen on Friday, according to a Facebook Post by the business.
