Doris “Ricki” Margreiter Garey, 94, passed away October 26, 2021.
Doris was born to Jacob and Hulda (Remus) Margreiter on August 30, 1927, at Cawker City, Kansas. After graduating in 1945 from Cawker City High School, Doris enrolled in Colorado Women’s College in Denver, CO and then transferred to the University of Kansas her junior year. She attended a summer semester at Mexico City University and then graduated from KU.
Surviving family include: daughter, Ann Garey of Downs, and daughter, Susan Grayson and husband, Cabell of Washington DC; grandsons, Paul and wife, Maddy Grayson and Bill and wife, Emily Grayson, all of Washington DC; great grandchildren, Cabell, Violet, and Bob, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Paul, daughter, Janis, her parents, brother, Mark and sisters, Christine and Ruth
Doris and Paul enjoyed traveling (including a trip to Egypt) and golfing. Doris was an avid reader and enjoyed many clubs and organizations that she participated during her adult life.
Funeral services will be held at the Downs United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. No visitation.
