BUHLER - Big nights from Brock Lummus and Carson Jacobs helped the Hays Senior Eagles 19U baseball team to a 10-6 and 8-4 win over the Buhler Nationals at Wheatland Park Wednesday night.
Jacobs hit a two-run homer off the left field scoreboard to highlight a four-run first inning in the Eagles 10-6 win in game one. Jacobs also singled and drove in three. Lummus had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Remington Cox also had two RBIs while Brady Kreutzer added three hits.
Kreutzer (1-0) pitched the final 2 2/3 innings of relief and picke dup the win.had three hits and picked up the win in relief. After giving up a two-run homer to the first batter he faced, Kreutzer struck out the next three and finished with four strikeouts.
Lummus hit a two-run homer in the first inning of game two then added a three-run shot in the fourth. Remington Cox, Dawson VonFeldt and Dalton Dale also drove in runs. Garrett Wellbrock added three of the Eagles 13 hits.
VonFeldt (1-0) pitched 2 2/3 solid innings for the win. He allowed three runs on four hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
The Eagles are now 4-0 on the season. They are back in Buhler Friday for the first two games of the Bob Hooper Showcase. The Eagles open pool play against the Kansas Senators at 11 a.m. then play the Topeka Scrappers at 1:15 p.m.
