⛳ HHS in 5th place at 5A state, McCrea in top-20

SALINA – Hays High’s Taleia McCrae shot an 11-over-par 81 and is part of a four-way tie for 14th place after the first day of the 5A State Golf Tournament Monday at the Salina Municipal Golf Course. Mill Valley’s Libby Green fired a one-under-par 69 and leads by one shot over Samantha Maceli of Pittsburg.

The Indians Katie Dinkel and Sophia Garrision both had rounds of 86 and are tied for 18th place.

The Indians, who qualified as a team for the 15th consecutive fall, shot a 354 and are in fifth place. Mill Valley and Kapaun Mt. Carmel both had rounds of 331 and are tied for the team lead. Defending state champ St. Thomas Aquanis is in third place, six shots back. Andover Central sits in fourth place at 350.

The second and final round takes place Tuesday.
