James P. Grossardt

James P. Grossardt, D.V.M. (age 76) of Siloam Springs, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

Jim was born December 26, 1947 in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Harold C. and Vivian E. (Radenberg) Grossardt. He graduated from Claflin High School in 1965 and later earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1971 from Kansas State University.

Jim served as rank of Captain in the Army Veterinary Corp from 1971 to 1973, stationed at Fort Snelling, St. Paul, Minnesota

On May 28, 1972, he married Linda A Hoffman in Lawrence, Kansas. A daughter Jill and son Mark were born to this union.

In 1974, Jim purchased a mixed animal veterinary practice in Minden, Nebraska and was a solo practitioner for forty years. He was a member of AVMA and NVMA. Jim served on the Minden school board for eight years as well as serving on the Minden Opera House board. His love of music was expressed through the Minden Community Players where he performed in many musical productions. He was a member of the Minden and Siloam Springs Rotary clubs for over 45 years.

Jim was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Minden, Nebraska and the New Life Church in Kearney, Nebraska. Throughout this time, he served as a lay pastor, board member, and 3rd grade and senior high Sunday school teacher. He served as an AWANA leader, with Walk to Emmaus retreats, and during Summer camps at Camp Comeca.

Upon retirement, volunteering made his life rich. He was a volunteer at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Auxiliary in the material management department as well as New Life Ranch and Siloam's community Joy Choir. Jim was a member of New Life Church in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where he enjoyed serving on the advisory board, as a small group leader, usher team leader, coffee connection host, and cast member in the Easter drama

Survivors include his wife Linda; daughter Jill Werst with husband Bill and granddaughter Hope of Elgin, Illinois; son Mark Grossardt with wife Amy, granddaughter Eva and grandson Roman of Nashville, Tennessee; sisters Joan Sutton of Topeka, Kansas and Marie Bachman of Susank, Kansas; brother Dr. Ted Grossardt with wife Gretchen of Lexington, Kentucky; and a delightful group of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life – Welcome Home service will be at New Life Church in Siloam Springs, AR on Friday July 12, 2024 at 10:00 am while a private internment of ashes will be at a later date in Lawrence, Kansas.
