Maurice L. Nordman, 92, passed away on January 20, 2022, at Medicalodges of Great Bend, Kansas. He was born on March 5, 1929, in Olmitz, Kansas, to George and Augusta (Springer) Nordman. Maurice married Leola Schartz on April 25, 1950. She died on May 3, 1992.
A lifetime Barton County resident, Maurice was a farmer and cattleman on the family farm until he retired. Maurice was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, and attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. He enjoyed traveling on various bus trips over the years and loved fishing and Polka dancing.
Maurice is survived by three sons, Ronnie (Cathy) of Olmitz, Marvin of Great Bend and Melvin (Robin) of Wichita; one daughter, Kathy Pechanec (Dennis) of Timken; two sisters, Norma Knight of Wichita and Margie Purdy of LaCrosse; seven grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leola; and two sisters, Melba Stos and Alice Oborny.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home with Father Aneesh Parappanattu presiding. The Nordman family kindly requests that masks be worn for Maurice’s visitation and services. Memorials have been designated to Meals on Wheels of Great Bend or Golden Belt Home Health & Hospice, in care Bryant Funeral Home.
