HAYS – TMP-Marian junior Ty Schmeidler announced Monday on X
that he has committed to play baseball at the University of Kentucky.
This past season, Schmeidler helped lead the Monarchs back to the state tournament and capped off the season with a second straight dominant performance at the state tournament.
Just like in his freshman campaign, Schmeidler carried a no-hitter deep into the postseason contest, only to see the Monarchs' opponent rally for the victory.
This past season, Schmeidler took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of a first-round matchup with the eventual state champions, Colgan Panthers. He struck out 14 through six innings before the Panthers scored two runs in the seventh to secure the win.
Schmeidler finished the season 5-2 with a 1.86 ERA. In his 41.1 innings pitched, Schmeidler struck out 78, walked 22, and allowed 18 total runs, all on 21 hits allowed.
