Following their runner-up finish last week at the 2-1A state tournament in Manhattan, the TMP-Marian Monarchs baseball team had five players earn all-state honors from the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches.
Ty Schmeidler was named the Class 2-1A Player of the Year and earned first-team honors as a pitcher.
Schmeidler finished 6-0 with a 1.34 ERA. He allowed 13 runs, 10 earned, in 52 1/3 innings pitched. He finished with 96 strikeouts and 19 walks.
At the plate, Schmeidler led TMP with a .539 batting average. He collected 21 extra-base hits, including eight home runs, and drove in 48 runs.
Catcher Caden Dinkel also earned first-team honors.
Dinkel hit .534 with 16 extra-base hits, including six home runs, and had 51 RBIs.
Carson Liles, Logan Baalmann and Grant Nehls all earned second-team honors.
Liles posted a team-best 10-0 record with a 2.14 ERA. He struck out 57 batters in 49 innings pitched.
Baalmann earned second-team honors as a middle infielder. He hit .400 with 13 extra-base hits and 32 RBIs.
Nehls was named to the second team as a utility player. He hit .397 with 13 extra-base hits and 31 RBIs.
TMP finished the season 29-2, making the state tournament for a third straight year.
