McPHERSON ā The Hays High boys and girls both won the McPherson Invitational Thursday. The girls edged Andover by one point and the boys won by 33 over second place Pratt. The Indian boys won seven events and the girls six.
Kamari Jones won three gold medals for the boys, taking the 200 and the triple jump. Jones was also on the winning 4x100 relay along with Holden Lind, Jarek Purdy and Braxton Basgall (43.81). Bruce Steffen won the 300 hurdles (40.47), Caleb Englert won the shot put with a personal best throw of 52-1. Parker McGuire had a personal best in the discus at 157-0 in a first place finish and Dalton Meyers won the javelin (170-2).
The girls were pace by Lyndi Zimmerman and Kamryn McCall who both had two first place finishes. Zimmerman won the 100 hurdles (14.49) and McCall the long jump (17-4). Both were a part of the 4x100 relay along with Moriah Hallum and Lynsi Kanek which also finished first with a time of 50.21. Katie Linenberger won the high jump (5-2) and Rylen Harrington placed first in the javelin (119-3).
