Hays Post honored with 6 Kansas Press Association awards

The Hays Post won six awards in the 2026 Kansas Press Association Awards.

Cristina Janney, Hays Post editor, won first place in Solutions Journalism for the series, "A Voice for Karen."

She also won third place awards for environmental reporting for the story, "Planning commission sends solar project to Ellis County Commission," and headline writing.

Jordan Schaeffer, graphic designer and videographer, won second- and third-place awards for Best Online Ad for his Reindeer Radio and Hays High, TMP Marian Sports ads.

He also won a third-place award for video journalism for his video of the escort for fallen Hays Police Sgt. Scott Heimann.

The Hays Post competes in the largest circulation division in the Kansas Press Association contest against publication such as the Kansas City Star, Wichita Eagle and Kansas Reflector.
