Norman Dale 'Norm' Richards

Norman Dale “Norm” Richards was born December 10, 1940, at his rural home in Decatur County, Kansas. He was the youngest of five children born to Edith M. (Holliday) and Elmer Leorin Richards. He passed away January 6, 2023, at the age of 82.

Norm attended school in Oberlin and in high school excelled at football, basketball, and was very involved in FFA. He graduated in 1959.

On March 26, 1960, Norm married Karen Sue Anderson and they were blessed with four children. On February 9, 1985, Norm was further blessed with his 5th child.

Throughout his life Norm worked in several professions from farming, building truck washes all over the U.S., to his final job of being a rural mail carrier for the Oberlin Post Office.

Norm enjoyed darts, bowing, golfing, hunting, and especially fishing. He shared his skills with his children and grand children and loved watching them all excel at whatever they did. His kids and grandkids were his pride and joy.

Survivors include his five children: Barry (Patti) Richards of Oberlin, Todd (Ali) Richards of Silt, CO, Doug (Kristy) Richards of Preston, MN, Kristin (Greg) McHugh of Oberlin, and Chelsea Richards of Washington, UT. Grandchildren: Curtis (Amanda) Richards, Bryan Richards, Jonathon (Amanda) Richards, and Andrew (Brooklyn) Richards, Jacob Richards, Caleb Richards, Kay (Jordan) Mason, Cap (Emily) Richards, Jordan (Cody) McHugh, Connor McHugh, and Tyler McHugh; great grandchildren: Sophia, Ellie, Trent, Holly, Briley, Hadley, Oakleigh, Weston, Ruby, Colton, Isabell, Lilly, Hank, Sarah, Bella, and Tucker. Other family and friends.

Norm was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Allen Richards, Johnnie Richards, George Richards, and Betty Robbins.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin. Burial will be in Oberlin Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made out to Miriam’s Hope. Condolence can be left at www.paulsfh.com.
