Office of Sen. Moran
WAKEENEY — U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kansas, was in WaKeeney on Monday to announce details of federal resources he helped secure for the Trego County Sheriff's Office in his role as a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science.
“It was great to be in WaKeeney," Moran said. "This investment will help the office upgrade the radio and communications technology that they rely on to do their jobs and keep Kansans safe."
The $52,000 federal investment will go toward technology upgrades for the sheriff’s office.
Among those joining Moran for the announcement at the Trego County Law Enforcement Center were Sheriff Edward Pritchard, Jerry Jervah Jr. and Brandon Payne with the Trego County Sheriff’s Office, 118th District Rep. Jim Minnix of Scott City, Trego County Attorney Abraham Pfannenstiel, WaKeeney City Council member Dave Anderson, Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital CEO Jeremy Rabe, Trego Community Schools Superintendent Matt Smith, and Nex-Tech Community Engagement Specialist Friday Otuya.
The funding was approved by Congress as part of an FY26 appropriations bill on Jan. 16 and signed into law by the president on Jan. 23.
