
Marvin D. “Scooter” Kramer, 73, died on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at
Brookside Retirement Village in Overbrook. He was born on December 17,
1947, at Dodge City the son of Marvin Andrew & Ola Mae (Townson)
Kramer. He married Julia Kraus on December 16, 1972, at Ransom. She
died on December 7, 2013.
Marvin graduated from Cimarron High School. He served in the United
States Navy as a 3rd Class Radioman and served two tours in Vietnam..
After his discharge he graduated from Dodge City Community College and
Fort Hays State University with his Masters Degree in English. He moved
to Garden City and was the Manager of Air Midwest. He later worked at
Commerce Bank before becoming the Owner and Operator of Sign Pro in
Garden City. After retiring he moved back to Cimarron.
He was a member of St Mary Catholic Church of Garden City, Broncbuster
Athletic Association, John J. Haskell VFW Post # 2279, Southwind Country
Club and Cimarron Golf Club. Marvin’s passion was playing, watching
and talking about golf, Garden City Community College Athletics and was
an avid Kansas City Royals fan.
He is survived by his 2 Daughters- Jamie Cook and Molly & Bryan
Viergever all of Topeka, 2 Grandson- Zack Cook and Garrett Cook both of
Topeka and Brother- Jim & Jean Kramer of Cimarron. He was preceded
in death by his Parents, Wife and Brother- Bill Kramer.
Vigil Service will be at 7:00 PM Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in
Garden City. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM Friday at St Mary
Catholic Church with Rev Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. Burial will be
in Cimarron Cemetery with military honors by United States Navy Honor
Guard and American Legion District 8 Honor Guard.
