👟 HHS boys first, girls second at WAC meet

GREAT BEND - The Hays High boys won seven events and finished in first place at the Western Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships in Great Bend. The girls brought home four gold medals and finished in second place.

The Indians boys scored 128 points and finished 29 1/2 points ahead of second place Great Bend. The HHS girls scored 103 points which was 51 back of first place Great Bend

2023 WAC Track Results

First place finishers for the boys included Chason VanDerWege in the high jump (6-2), Harley Zimmerman in the pole vault (12-6), Keamone Archie the long jump (23-1.5), Kyreese Groen in the triple jump (45-2), Grayson Walburn the discus (166-0), Wyatt Waddell the javelin (175-1) and Bryce Salmans the shot put (47-2).

Halle Lohmeyer led the Hays girls with first place finishes in both the discus (123-7) and shot put (36-8.5). Lilian McGrath won the long jump (17-3) and Morgan Geerdes brought home the gold medal in tej triple jump (34-8).
