Richard “Rick” Gerard Suchy, 66, passed away May 12, 2022, at the University Of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. He was born on June 11, 1955, in Great Bend, to Albion and Marcelline (Schwartz) Suchy. He married Kay Nelson on Aug. 31, 1974, in Great Bend.
A lifetime Great Bend resident, Rick was the owner and operator of Suchy Construction. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #862, NRA, Duneville Campground and Shifters of Central Kansas.
Rick enjoyed hunting, cars, collecting all things auto memorabilia, dune buggies and sand cars. He especially loved spending time with his family and their Fourth of July celebrations.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Suchy of the home; a son, Aaron Suchy and Tierney Mermis and a daughter, Nikki Munsch and husband Rick, and a son-in-law, Gary Bainbridge all of Great Bend; five grandchildren, Braxton Love, Darin Munsch, Brodie Bainbridge, Hayley Suchy and Caylon Munsch; a brother, Randy Suchy and wife Cristy of Great Bend; five sisters, Diane Morris and husband Wade of Hoisington, Debra Langer and husband Bob of Great Bend, Brenda Ohnmacht and husband Steve of Great Bend, Arlene Manning and husband Greg of Ellinwood and Coleen "Coke" Suchy of Bushton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Kimberly Suchy Bainbridge.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Vigil service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Memorials have been designated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
