
Carol (Dyer) Blackwell was born on Sept 26, 1938, to Denny & Fern Dyer in Lucas, KS.
Carol went to all twelve grades at Lucas, KS graduating the class of
1956. Following high school Carol joined the United States Air Force.
She did her basic training at Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, TX. She
studied in key punch. After basic she went to Kansas City to Richards
Gebaur air base where she met her future husband Eugene E. Blackwell.
They were married on Sept 28, 1958. They would have celebrated 50 years
on Sept 28, 2008. Carol worked for the Air Force as a civilian.
In 1963 Blackie had orders to go to Guam. They spent 2 years there.
They came back and finished his service at Travis Air Base in
California. Retiring there and moving back to the Kansas City area.
Carol worked for the IRS in Kansas City.
In 1974, the Blackwells purchased a home in Lucas. Blackie worked in
Osborne & Russell. Carol liked to cook and was a very good cook.
They enjoyed living in Lucas. They opened Blackies Pub and ran it for a
few years before selling it to Gene & Linda Jepsen. Blackie passed
away on April 16, 2008. Carol maintained their home there.
Carol’s health started to decline in later years. She passed away on January 18, 2022.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Blackie;
sister Barbara; brothers Chester & Billy; Sister in laws Ruby &
Joyce; her nephew Billy G Dyer Jr.
She is survived by her sister Mary (Jim) Williamson, her nephews
Mike, Denny, John, Jeff, and Jay. Numerous great & great great
nephews. Her nieces Marcia, Cathy, Becky, Terri, and Susan. Numerous
great & great nieces. She will be solely missed by all that knew
her.
