Fort Hays State returns to action on Saturday in Warrensburg, Mo., taking on Central Missouri. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. in Warrensburg. The Tigers enter at 13-6 overall, 6-4 in the MIAA, while the Mules are 10-10 overall and 5-6 in the MIAA.
Both teams are coming off losses on Thursday evening. Fort Hays State fell to No. 1 ranked Washburn in Topeka by a score of 74-65, while Central Missouri fell to Nebraska-Kearney at home by a score of 57-52.
Fort Hays State is seeking to split the four games on its current road swing, which began last week. The Tigers started the run of road games with a win at Rogers State before taking losses at Central Oklahoma and Washburn. Fort Hays State has won eight straight games against Central Missouri going back to the 2020-21 season, although the last six meetings have been decided by 10 points or less. The Tigers won the first meeting with the Mules this season 70-67 in double overtime in Hays back on December 5.
Kyle Grill scored a career-high 25 points in the loss at Washburn on Thursday night. He scored at least 20 points in two of the last three games for FHSU. Kaleb Hammeke, Shaun Riley, and Traejon Davis all reached double figures in scoring as well. Hammeke leads the Tigers at 14.9 points and 4.4 assists per game, while Riley leads in rebounds at 6.8 per game. Hammeke led the Tigers with 19 points in the first meeting with the Mules this season.
DeAirius Barker leads Central Missouri in scoring at 12.2 points per game. Kyran Tilley, who averages 9.7 per game, led the Mules in scoring in Hays earlier this season with 21 points.
