Morris J. Froelich – age 87, of Gorham, died Aug. 8, 2021, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays. He was born March 26, 1934, in Pharr, Texas to Jonas F. and Sylvia Lee (Cox) Froelich.  He married Mary Ann (Whitney) on Nov. 14, 1952, at Lawrence.

He was a roustabout and oil field worker in Russell and Ellis counties for over 40 years.  He worked for Kellis Counts, Lonnie King, R.C. Williams, Jack Koron, General Roustabout, and Farley’s Machine Shop.  In 1979 he started Froelich Lease Service and retired in 1992.  Morris grew up in Gorham and Walker and attended high school in Arnold and Utica. He was a member of the Gorham Community Church, a Boy Scout leader and very active in the community helping others.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Froelich, of the home; one son, Morris A. Froelich and wife, Marie, Hays; one daughter, Shelley M. Oden and husband, Bruce, Russell; one sister, Inabelle Wilkerson, Dighton; four grandchildren: Jill Russell (Bill); Walter Oden Jr.; Pamela Oden; Jaimie Oden; one granddaughter-in-law, Savanna  Froelich; seven great-grandchildren: Kaeleah Russell; Brynn Russell; Severin Oden; Marissa Froelich; Afton Froelich; Joselin Froelich; Victoria Froelich.  

Her was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Art, Edward, Elmer, Donald, Albert Froelich; and one grandson, Clint Alan Froelich.   

His wishes were cremation and no services. The family suggests memorials to The Gorham Community Church made payable to the church in care of Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd St., Hays, KS 67601 or Morris would like you to take your family out to dinner and spend time with them.
