👟 FHSU ranked in the top 25 heading into conference championships

NEW ORLEANS - Both Fort Hays State track and field teams will head into the 2022 MIAA Outdoor Championships ranked in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA DII National Rating Index. The women are slotted 17th this week while the men are 22nd in the latest poll, released Tuesday by the coaches association.

The women are the third-highest of five MIAA teams amongst the top 25, while the men are one of seven MIAA programs ranked in the top 25 this week.

The men are fourth and the women are fifth in the latest Central Region rankings, with both teams ranked third in the latest MIAA conference power rankings.

Fort Hays State athletes have recorded 26 NCAA Division II provisional performances so far this season, including 18 that rank in the top 20 nationally.

The Tigers have 10 event squads that rank in the top 12 at this time, including the third-ranked 400m hurdles team, the fourth-ranked high jump team, the 11th-ranked 100m hurdles team, the 12th-ranked 200m team and the 12th-ranked javelin squad on the women's side and the third-ranked pole vault team, the sixth-ranked triple jump team, the sixth-ranked javelin team, the eighth-ranked 400m team and the eighth-ranked 800m team from the men's team.

Fort Hays State will next compete in the MIAA Outdoor Championships May 6-8 in Emporia, Kan.
